Marilla Wex got her first big laugh at the age of four playing the Blessed Virgin Mary in her junior kindergarten nativity play. It was a major embarrassment for her parents and a destiny-defining moment of unalloyed glory for her as a comedian. Despite being classically trained as a theatre actress at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, the Bristol University Drama Department and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Marilla’s passion has always been comedy. Canada has been very kind to her - she has won a Crystal Gold Award for best radio commercial voice-over, starred in a Dora-winning Mirvish theatre production, and won a Best of Fringe for her one-woman show at the Toronto Fringe Festival. She was nominated with the rest of The Beaverton cast for a Best Ensemble Canadian Screen Award.
