Brian Wride

Brian started playing guitar in 1977, when a generous neighbour gave him an old electric guitar after upgrading to a better instrument. He took formal lessons for several years and enjoyed playing in a "garage band"as a teenager and jamming with friends through university and beyond.

After becoming a stay-at-home parent, Brian started teaching guitar part-time from his home in 2004.  When his kids were young, he shifted his own musical focus to solo instrumental guitar to accommodate nap time.

In 2010, Brian started battling stage fright by attending local open mics and has since become a fixture in the local music scene, appearing at local venues, festivals, and community events. Recently, Brian has turned his hand to composing and arranging music for solo guitar, completing his first original piece in 2021.

As an instrumental fingerstyle guitarist, Brian creates images and evokes emotions with his guitar and has appeared on the stages of the Springtide Music Festival, the Kawartha Lakes Festival of the Arts, and the Greenbank Folk Music Society.
